Characters for my Background

After a lot of thought i decided to add characters to my background to bring it to life, i have looked at bins, traffic cones, cctv cameras and street signs.
Heres a few images that i can make characters out of.

Heres my illustrations of street objects transformed into a character which isn't particularly difficult.

Can Graffiti advertising really work?

I was walking through Manchester today and i thought i would pop into the Northern Quarter and appreciate the Graffiti advertising converse when i saw a man spraying off the paint using a jetwash, i thought it must of been a waste of time and effort to create something so detailed and amazing. This is now making me think can this form of advertising work in the real world, there has to be a way of gettin round this.
How Dissapointing?

Background ideas for final peice.

when coming up with ideas for my final peice i wanted my background to be an Environment for my main image. from my previous experiance of drawing buildings i wanted to do the same idea but better my designs, refining my illustrations on illustrator would attract bettter attention.
This was an initial layout of my background.
This was drawn using the pen tool on illustrator, this helps me judge what it would look like with light reflecting off the windows and also help me with the shape of my advert aswell.
This is my wireframe for my Background, now i will add colour and compliment it with the nike movement to mock up how it would look finalised.
This was my first design but it could be made better using a light reflection on the windows to the left to give the feel of light bouncing off the windows, this gives my work a reality instread of all being urban and youthful.
This looks alot better now i have the light reflecting off the windows i am happy with this being my Background.

This is my background with my logo at the bottom to accompany my cityscape.
This is an idea of what my final peice will look like, please offer me feedback i would love to make this advertisement more publicly understood.

bike timeline

when creating this movement i had to picture how a bike would move when performing a stunt of some sort, for the trick that i will be doing i will be keeping my front tyre on the floor while spinning the body of the bike 360 degrees back to wear my feet can stand on the peddles again. This trick is called a foot jam tail whip and i chose to do this because it looks interesting to watch and every time i have performed this on the street i have had attention off young riders.
This is the initial layout of what i want my timeline to look like, adding a motion blur would help this look more like its moving.
I didn't want to blur all of the motions because at some points of this movement the bike shouldn't move especially in the middle were you would want the image to be clear and recognisable.

Making a logo for this event didn't really take much thought, this advertisement is all about extreme sports so using a wheel with roll to the top going across the wheel is relativly simple, i will be using this logo for clothing and some accessories such as pads, helmets, jumpers and shirts.
Over the summer holidays i decided to draw images relating to Manchester and meaning behind Manchester and what it has to offer. This give me the idea of using a cityscape background with street signs and other streets objects such as bins, this will give my advertisement an environment in the actual advertisement.
This was made when the world cup was being broadcast in Manchester, the tetris blocks represent the busy human traffic on the paths, i remember i couldn't move properly and was bumping into people, the balloons represent party and celebration.
These are the kind of objects i will be adding to my background collage.

Ideas for final design

For my final peice i want poses of me doing tricks on my bike, i will be using a shutterspeed so i can catch every angle of the trick itself. After i have got my photos i will firstly cut them out on photoshop then try a live trace over them in illustrator which will give it more of a comic style colour.
After this technique i will cut them out again and try n use a threshold over the top to create a shadow so i can have a slide of moving shadows, but this doesnt relate to my graffiti i have been learning so i will use a threshold but concentrate on the creases in the clothes so it gives my advertisment more depth.

Style and Technique
I need to think of a background or some sort of environment for my manipulated photos, maybe a brick wall behind the images or even blur marks would look good coming of me which will represent movement and attract consumer attention. Anyway here are my main ideas for my final peice i will do a few layouts of what i want it to look like and post them on here by Monday.

Essay writing info

I am currently writing my essay about urban advertisement which i am finding fairly easy due to being educated enough about this topic, im going to be researching on how Graffiti became such a more understandable form of art and how advertisement has power of persuassion. Both of these questions will relate to each other and hopefully will form a successfull essay, Graffiti and advertisement are very similair because both of them are communicating to the public and forming a peice of work that can acheive this will be an acheivment for myself.
